it's been too long!

I have been slacking in the blogging department,  at least this blog.   My tattooing blog has been updated much more.
I do have one piece of news as far as my "normal" art (action) goes,  New Years Eve I will be painting live in Whistler village from 7-11PM at Maurice Young Place. The event is a free family festival organized by the Whistler Arts Council.  Stop by and say hello if you are in the area. If you are not in the area then please send me good vibes.   Thanks and happy New Year.
Pics of the event and my piece will come later (I promise)

PRINTS!!!!

So a couple weeks ago I got my ass in gear and finally made a few batches of prints of some of my paintings.

All the prints are printed on heavy card stock.
They measure 13x18 inches.   Suitable for framing.
These are first editions and are in runs of 50.

I chose 7 paintings to make into prints and plan to make some of my other paintings into prints in the future.

The prints sell for $10.00 each.   Please contact me via email if you would like one.

Paper This! art show

Tonight at the Beaumont Studio/Gallery in Vancouver ...
"PAPER THIS"
a group art exhibit put on by Arne Gutmann
over 20 Whistler artists showing work on large paper sheets made by Arne Gutmann.
8PM -2AM

The Beaumont Studios
316 West 5th Avenue (@ Alberta)
Vancouver, BC

Multidisciplinary artist Arne Gutmann’s newest brainchild “Paper This” is an experiment in recycled mediums. After approaching over 30 notable Whistler artists from a variety of backgrounds, Gutmann created custom paper canvases from a variety of materials including recycled ski lift passes, birch bark. comic books, and cigarette packs.

Arne’s instructions to the artists were simple,

“Keep it vertical and try not destroy the original integrity of the paper, no cutting or ripping it, full size, 15 x 19 inch sheets. I also wanted the paper to not be too altered so people could actually see the paper under and around their art. A frame if you will. All the sheets are completely unique, there are no two alike. Many of the pieces were created with the help of the artists.”

With over 30 participants from a variety of backgrounds, “Paper This” is a unique artistic experiment.

Five years ago, Gutmann started experimenting with different techniques and materials to make paper. Initially working with recycled materials, he later moved to the heavy production of raw fibres, mostly hemp but also a wide variety of local flora such as: Burdock, Mulberry, Kozo, and Juniper. He has also experimented with unconventional materials including money, old boxers, hemp, cigarette packs, receipts and McDonald’s wrappers.

Having lived in Whistler for 15 years, photographer Arne Gutmann has become a staple in the Whistler art scene. His work has been published in a variety of ski and snowboard magazines, lifestyle and architecture publications and is a regular contributor to art shows in and around Whistler.

“I shoot almost anything but my forte is people, whether they fly, ski, board, bike.”

This is the second show of this type that Arne has curated, the first being in Whistler in 2009.
