Multidisciplinary artist Arne Gutmann’s newest brainchild “Paper This” is an experiment in recycled mediums. After approaching over 30 notable Whistler artists from a variety of backgrounds, Gutmann created custom paper canvases from a variety of materials including recycled ski lift passes, birch bark. comic books, and cigarette packs. Arne’s instructions to the artists were simple, “Keep it vertical and try not destroy the original integrity of the paper, no cutting or ripping it, full size, 15 x 19 inch sheets. I also wanted the paper to not be too altered so people could actually see the paper under and around their art. A frame if you will. All the sheets are completely unique, there are no two alike. Many of the pieces were created with the help of the artists.” With over 30 participants from a variety of backgrounds, “Paper This” is a unique artistic experiment. Artists include: Stephen Vogler, Writer G.D. Maxwell, Writer Goldfinger, Artist Chris Macleay, Graphic Artist Ian Legris, Artist Randoid, Artist Robyn Dutcher, Artist, Mike Riccardi, Artist The Incredible Amoeba, Artist Sophie Collins, Artist Arne Gutmann, Artist Dave Petko, Artist Leslie Anthony, Writer Sevin, Artist Neil Foster, Artist Vanessa Stark, Artist Lauren Ritz, Artist Lisa Richardson, Writer Taka Sudo, Artist Devin White, Artist Fozzy Owen, Artist Laurel Terlsky, Artist Chili Thom, Artist Jose St Amour, Artist Dorthe Blisful, Artist Samera Gibson, Artist Andy Fenwick, Artist Luke Pollard, Artist Chantelle Pellerin, Artist Kate Burden, Artist Five years ago, Gutmann started experimenting with different techniques and materials to make paper.
